John U. Varga, M.D.

Dr. Varga is board certified in internal medicine. He earned a B.A. in Biology from the University of Kentucky Honors Program, where he attended on a four-year tennis scholarship. He was elected into Phi Beta Kappa and awarded an academic All-American post-graduate scholarship in 1983. He received his M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1987.

Mark R. Wheeler, M.D.

Dr. Wheeler began his medical career with a B.S. in Chemistry from Centre College of Kentucky. He earned his M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1987. His internship and residency were completed in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville, where he became the Chief Medical Resident and Acting Director of Undergraduate Education in 1990.

Paul J. Loheide, M.D.

Dr. Loheide graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Biology and the Biology Award from the University of Louisville. He then earned his M.D. from the University of Louisville in 1998, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude. His residency in Internal Medicine was completed at the University of Louisville in 2001, where he earned numerous awards including “Most Outstanding Senior Resident.”

Chris McClellan, M.D.

Dr. McClellan graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Biology from Transylvania University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville in 1998 then completed his internship at the University of Kentucky’s Chandler Medical Center where he received the “Outstanding Intern Teacher Award” as well as the “Best Intern Award” voted on by his fellow residents. Following his internship, he completed his residency in 2001.

Dawn L. Courtaney, M.D.

Dr. Courtenay graduated from Bellarmine University with a BA in English. She earned her MD from the University of Louisville in 2004 and then completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency. During her time in residency, she earned both the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award and the Outstanding Continuity Clinic Resident Award.

W. Alan Currie, M.D.

Dr. Currie received his B.A. in Biology in 1992 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1996 from the University of Louisville. In 1999, he completed residency training in Internal Medicine at University
of Louisville after being awarded the Excellence in Clinical Education Award by the medical students during his training.
