W. Alan Currie, M.D.
Dr. Currie received his B.A. in Biology in 1992 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1996 from the University of Louisville. In 1999, he completed residency training in Internal Medicine at University of Louisville after being awarded the Excellence in Clinical Education Award by the medical students during his training.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Greater Louisville Medical Society. Dr. Currie is well-versed in all of areas of adult primary care medicine, with special interests in preventive medicine and cardiovascular disease.
After completing residency training in his hometown of Louisville, he and his wife relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for her training in pediatrics. There, Dr. Currie began his career in internal medicine in a busy multispecialty clinic. Upon returning home to Louisville with his family in 2005, he joined Norton Community Medical Associates in St. Matthews and later partnered with Kentucky One Health. He most recently received the Norton Healthcare Patient Experience award in 2016, signifying the highest patient satisfaction scores within the organization. After 17 years of practice, Dr. Currie has developed a passion for partnering with his patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes.
A native of Louisville, he was the founder, coach, and sole competitor of his high school swim team. He enjoys regular exercise, traveling with his family, and photography. He is married to Dr. Melissa Currie, a practicing subspecialist in Pediatrics with the University of Louisville. Together they have 3 school-aged children, 2 large dogs, and a smattering of pets with scales and shells.
